Now, for the last year or so, I just couldn't get Muse. Kept trying, but thought they were sterile and tedious, and just didn't see the point.
But then... saw that they were lined up for the Teenage Cancer Trust week of gigs at the Albert Hall, and so blagged some tickets for last Saturday. Now I see the point! Boy, what a fantastic night, noise, passion, skill and extreme performance, all in a wonderful intimite setting. I'm now a convert!
But interestingly, their fan forum is a scary place to be, and the few fans I spoke to on the night, while passionate about *their* band, really couldn't share my love of The Feeling. Pah, their loss!
Earlier in the week I saw Madness (fantastic, I was grinning all the way through, and felt like a teenager all over again), Duffy (sublime), and Paul Weller (surprisingly tedious, an obscure and downbeat set - big dissappointment). And then the night after Muse I also went to see Yfriday who are fab as always.
Thus ended my marathon of 4 gigs in 6 nights. Was shattered, and no voice, on Monday morning...
