I live near Brighton so have never stayed there so can't really recommend anywhere specific. But there are loads of different kinds of accommodation there - B&B, Travelodges, Jury's Inn, Premier Inns as well as the lower end hotels and pricey ones on the seafront so you can take your pick really depending on how much you want to spend! The venue is on the sea front which is about a 10 minute walk from the Station, so that should give you an idea of distances when you search on the net.
