Not sure why I'm replying as everyone will probably stop talking to me but I'm an Accountant!
Does playing the piano a lot (including concerts etc) count as an interesting hobby?

Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle

Re: What do you do for a job (or what do you want to do once out of college)
I think it does! Concerts wow!
BTW, I think this thread is a good idea. I have no idea what to do after school (and unfortunately, I only have one year left). If you've got any ideas (the guy at the job centre was quite useless to be honest), let me know. I'd love to do something with languages but no way am I gonna be a teacher. That leaves everything and nothing to do . I love music (ideally I'd do something with that) but I'm the least creative person in the world. It's depressing not to know.

I worked in Arts Administration (running theatre type places); theatrical production; for a theatrical agent; and mostly in TV production for about 10 years until I stopped working to have a family. Now I spend my whole life doing stuff voluntarily for my children's school (run the PTA, Governor etc) and try to make some money selling our old junk on eBay.
Not too shoddy for someone with one 'O' level....

Re: What do you do for a job (or what do you want to do once out of college)
For the moment I am a tart with a cart on long haul flights for the World's Favourite . In the past I have done everything from office work, bar work, I've been a call girl (for the GPO 'Operator Services, Can I help you? )', worked in a car rental office, chalet maid, waitress, been a Pontins Bluecoat 'Hi de Hi'.. Been a Pub singer in the Northern Clubs. Sang in a band in the Middle East, ( I hasten to add, I can't sing but I was 9 stone wringing wet and full of confidence in those days). Also done numerous other temp jobs but for the past 23 years have been 'flying to serve' and having a right old giggle doing it.Incidentally I heard a funny story today about our dear ginger pop singer with the Mancunian band with the attitude. Joke is he was arrested after a flight after being caught sh*****g a rabbit. A pparently he was 'holding back the ears' and singing'bunny's too tight to mention' at the time! (grrrrrrroan)
BTW Lynn I must pick your brains about ebay one day

Phew, that's worse than me. I'm married to an accountant, though. Oh, and I'm the daughter of an accountant. Oh, and the sister of an actuary (a person that finds accountancy too interesting....) I'm not really selling myself here, am I?

Re: What do you do for a job (or what do you want to do once out of college)
I did 2 years hair dressing when i left school but got sick of it. I then went to work in a home for the eldely and have been looking after others ever since. For the last 10 years i have been workin for the nationwide company Crossroads Caring for Carers. I give respite to carers in their homes. I look after Children, Young adults and the elderly. I love my job and have met some truly inspirational people.
These people are unpaid carers of a loved one and are the unsung saints of Great Britain. They do not get recognised enough and take a great strain off hospitals, care homes and the NHS. I get immense satisfaction from what i do and could never imagine doing anything else.
Caring is what i do. and in to summarise, i am a Family Support Worker.
