Sorry to Dan and the rest of the band

I've just watched the webcast from this morning and whilst I've known for many years that JBJ is a very arrogant man - I can't believe that you were made to feel like they didn't want you there and that you've never been treated so badly.

I've been a fan of theirs for years and even travelled to the US to see 3 shows in 2006 (having already done 8 here that year) but in the last couple of years I've become so disheartened with the way they treat their fans.  It's all about the money now which is very sad. But I can't believe they would treat their support band with such disrespect.

You guys had already pushed Jovi down to second place for me  -  but after hearing what you said today I don't think I want to call myself a fan of theirs anymore and I feel very sad.  I love their music (most of it) and I've made some great friends from being on the road, but I love your music too - and you're nice guys. There's no need for such arrogance.

I'm sorry you were treated so appallingly by the band that has always been so dear to my heart.  They can go spin now. Not that they'd care anyway.

I don't think it was the band itself that felt that way about them, probably just the touring crew who found they had to look after five extra people. I can't imagine any of BJ who'd resent any band that was supporting them that badly. I was shocked to hear that anyone would find them such a hassle to have around, but I honestly think that, if it were anyone, it would be the people working in the other areas of the tour (for example, Ciaran mentioned catering) rather than Jon, Ritchie or the rest of the band. Plus, if they really didn't want them around, they'd have complained about them being their support group, wouldn't they?

Nah - trust me - everything that goes on is down to Jon.   He never thanked them for supporting and it's all about him. As you can tell - I don't like him very much right now!!  I've just seen him and the fanclub change over the years and it hasn't been for the better. That's the end of my gigs with Jovi. Am so glad I did this year otherwise I wouldn't have come to love The Feeling..........but that's been the best part of the recent tour for me.

I have not seen the GMTV footage but i'm so sad that it's made you feel that way. Really. I will take a look and then i'll be more able to comment further but it's a shame that you feel that you won't be seeing them again. Think about it hun. xxxxxx  Left Hug

... which I think just proves that they can't have been treated so badly. If they've never met, they can't have been that condescending themselves.

I think it's quite disrespectful that BJ didn't thank the guys personally for supporting them. There must have been a point in their history where they were the support act and they should know how hard it can be getting up in front of a large crowd who aren't really there to see you.

The thing is, it's not unusual for a band of BJ's size to have nothing to do with their support act (not letting them use the screens during their set, not saying thankyou etc etc) It's not new. I remember reading about Kim Wilde supporting Michael Jackson on the European leg of one of his tours in the 80s where she didn't even see him once, never mind get a thankyou!!

I haven't seen the intervew that triggered Becci to start this thread, but I think because The Feeling are always extremely welcoming to their support bands their treatment by BJ might have seemed harsh, but I don't suppose they were surprised. I spoke to a couple of members of Palladium at Shepherd's Bush after the March tour, and even they had tales of their headline acts on previous support tours giving them the cold shoulder; and none of them were anywhere near the size of BJ. Unfortunately I think The Feeling are pretty special in their treatment of their fans, each other AND their peers!

I'll take a penny for my thoughts; I'm overcharging you of course.

Bearing inmind that JBJ personally asked for The Feeling to support them on their tour after seeing them open  that american football game at Wembley I think it is sad that they did not take time out to meet the guys. They were'nt allowed to use screens, They could only use a portion of the stage, they could only have their speakers etc at a certain volume. it's almost as if they were warned not to upstage the main act. All very well (if a bit churlish) but it would have been decent of Bon Jovi  to have acknowledged them. What I was shocked at was that they were even told that they were entitled to the lowest level of the catering FFS! Surprise

Becci it's sad when you find out that your heroes can be ar***s. Believe you me I've met quite a few celebs like that and if The Feeling got like that it would put me off. I hope they never do. They seem very grounded.

Hey Bon Jovi's loss is the Feeling's gain. Wink

Thanks. I think you're right about them not wanting to be upstaged.  In my opinion this happened in 2006 with Nickelback........they went down an absolute storm and gained a huge amount of fanss -  so much so that many of us had banners for them  -  and we were specifically told by JBJ security that we weren't allowed to put them up and that we had to respect BJ. Of course we ignored what was said!!!!  But I do think you've hit the nail on the head here.

I'm so sorry that you feel like this Becci, considering what an loyal Jovi fan you are! It must be such a shame when you admire someone so much to end up resenting them because of arrogance or whatnot! I just hope you feel as welcomed by the feeling community as you did by the jovi community!Big Smile
