I'm going up town this morning with mum to find her something nice for her birthday.  Then it's boring things like housework or- if the weather holds - sorting out the garden which currently looks like a nature reserve!!!!!!!!!! LOL

My plans just changed :-)  Mum and dad coming over for mum's birthday tea - if you can call it tea...............got a multitude of different cheeses and crusty breads and pate and humous (sp) and grapes.............and the important thing......wine.  Mmmmmm.  Now need to go and do the housework that I was gonna do this afty coz I've been out and about all day! LOL

I've just took part in a parade celebrating the 75th anniversary of the British Legion where I live. And I'll be out the night (trying) to entertain the tourists.

To top off a ridiculously busy few weeks I took part in the Race for Life this morning, finished cleaning and preparing our holiday flat for the next tenants, then watched my eldest son in his last night of his play at youth theatre (it was fab).  However, this unfortunately entailed hanging around until 11pm for the aftershow party to finish so I'm a touch tired at present.

Oh and I also had the most amazing meal at the Hare and Tortoise Japanese restaurant in Putney.  Absolutely outstanding and superb value for money.  Marvellous pint of Kirin to go with it.  Yum.

Mucho gardening was done today, and all looks very spruce. 

But did appear to knacker the recoil spring on the hedgetrimmer's starter, so that's a repair job for *next* weekend!   

Also, finally got fed up of years of wondering, and looked up what the mushrooms that colonise part of the lawn are.  Looked to be edible, so fried them up and had them with dinner this evening - very tasty - and the lawn's now clear of mushrooms.  Double-plus good!

Lynne - congrats on The Race for Life - I admire you immensely.

Alec  -  think you're very brave for trying out your mushrooms  -  I'd be too scared they were poisonous............or magic! LOL  But now you know they're okay you can cultivate and grow a nice little supply!!!

We have strawberries and lettuces growing (obviously they're planned - not wild) but it's really nice to have fresh stuff to hand.

Has Alec posted much since eating his mushrooms? He's probably off halucinating somewhere. LOL!
