RockStar 08 is a competition designed to unearth the best-of-the-best in the world of unsigned music. Backed by Michael Eavis, Glastonbury Festival’s father, the musician Peter Gabriel’s unique Real World Studio, this competition opens the doors to the most sought after prizes any unsigned talent could wish for.
The competition
Any unsigned band/performer was eligible to enter into this competition, which closed for this year on 19th June 2008.
Having now closed for this year, judges are now looking at all the entries for this competition which gives one artist/band a chance to win the following amazing prizes and experience much, much more –
1. The winning band/performer will play a live set at the Pilton Equinox Party 2008 at the home of the Glastonbury festival, in front of a crowd of 4000.
2. A chance to win a two week recording session in the renowned Real World Studios
3. The chance to play a live set at Glastonbury 09
How does it work?
Bands/performers have submitted their music.
After the very experienced panel of judges, made up of various music professionals, have reviewed all the entries, 24 semi-finalists will be selected.
These semi-finalists will then be invited to Pilton Working Men’s Club for four heat rounds, where 5 finalists will be selected by the live panel of judges including Michael Eavis, representatives from Real World Studios, Total Rock Radio, and UKmusic.com along with other high profile music industry luminaries.
The live final will take place at the Pilton Party, to a crowd of 1000. There the finalists will play live, with the UK's best-selling band - Scouting for Girls, who will be performing on the night, in the final battle for the crown.
The winner of this competition will be crowned RockStar 08 on the night and will be offered a second chance to play to their newly gained fans.
RockStar 08 winner will be able to play their own set at the Pilton Equinox Party 2008, Michael Eavis' own party at Worthy Farm, the home of the Glastonbury festival.
Following this event the winner will be offered the chance to record their own music in the unique and world famous Real World Studios over a two week period.
The winner will also be offered a set at Glastonbury 2009, along with some of the world’s most famous bands and performers.
